Ah— the joys of ‘time off’ that a teacher jumps into each June! And, the gratitude for a chunk of time to check off some projects that have been on the ‘to do list’ for many months. Up at Star Garden Gallery, Zach and I created an ornamental coyote fence with the trees from the land that suffered from the bark beetle blight. The open design provides a boundary to the parking lot without blocking the view of the Zuni Mountains, Oso Ridge, and the Notches. I’m adding ribbons and bells for color and fun. Inside Star Garden Gallery, I put up some more artwork, framed a few photos, and added more cards and candles to the inventory. At home, the garden is growing and so is the puppy! The dog family of three is super sweet together. In Gallup, at the Art123 Gallery, I enjoyed meeting other artists in the group show and the opening crowd for the Arts Crawl evening— with street vendors, music, and food— felt almost ‘pre-pandemic.’ June also brought some visitors from my Boston days at the Park School— a chance to share fond memories and favorite nearby places. To wrap up the month, mom and I took a quick trip up to Taos to see a friend who was a graduate school professor of mine in Cincinnati. The photos here include sunrise and sunset on the solstice, studio views, coyote fence building, cactus and wildflower blooms, backyard garden views, Gallup gallery pics, Laguna Mission, Taos Mountains, and the pups!
