Restful Weavings and Wanderings

At the start of July, I worked on a few more weavings on cholla branch looms. One is in the new show at the Old School Gallery. At Star Garden Gallery, the curtains started to fray from five years of sun— and they split right where the ribbon hits them when they are tied open— so I made some new curtains, and some new porch pillow covers, too. The trip to Alaska was a bit different than last year’s adventure… My mom and I took a pre-cruise trip up to Anchorage and Denali National Park. The vast and pristine wilderness with glacial streams, black spruce, and abundant wildflowers was a majestic and magical sight to see. Then, a cruise up the Inside Passage was a lovely tonic with its cloud-covered calm and the soothing sounds of a horizon of waves. Finished the month at home with a bit of time for studio and garden delights, and it’s back to school on August 1st!
