There aren’t many snow plows around here— sparse population and lots of miles of backroads— so, sometimes the roads are snow packed and slick, and even parts of I-40 has closed a few times this month. Ramah is about twenty miles west of the Continental Divide, which can be impassable during the winter as it traverses dormant volcanoes and the Zuni Mountains. School has been overwhelming —and overflowing into the weekends— with extra trainings for my unexpected switch to teach a First and Second Grade Split Classroom. Thankfully, the snow has brought a few delightful two-hour delays and a couple of cozy Sundays— perfect for making soap, candles, and cookies, and taking snowy walks. The fragrances of rose, vanilla, and coffee soaps, lavender candles, and peanut butter cookies have filled the home and provided calm. Here are some photos from the snowy roads, these weekend days, and a sunrise photo of the neighbor’s horses on my way to school.
