February Flurries

We’ve been lucky to have so much moisture this winter with weekly snow— often just a dusting— and chilly temps to keep the snowpack blanketing the fields and forests that surround us. One morning, the hoar frost encased every branch and stem and fence post, creating a wondrous landscape. Inside on a February morning, our dog Samus had puppies. (And, yes—as planned— our other dog, Tuna, is the father.) It’s been a bit flurried, as mother and pups had some complications. Samus is doing much better now, regaining her strength. Zach has been bottle feeding the pups; a labor of love and patience. Our plan is to keep one of the three pups. A few watercolor and acrylic sketches and some tiny ‘cloud plates’ (which will be sanded and painted) to wrap up the month.
