With June came the slower pace of school vacation, the enormous full Strawberry Moon, and the start of the monsoon season! The air, earth, and animals delighted in the wondrous water from above as it brought some relief for the wildfires and hopefully put a tiny dent in the drought. The backyard garden is growing and smiling! I painted a tiny triptych for the next show at the Old School Gallery (which opens in early July) and organized the postcards, notecards and matted photographs for the studio shop. As I write this update, I am surrounded by the wondrous waters of the North Pacific and the many islands— large and small— of Southeast Alaska. My mom and I are on a cruise, exploring and enjoying the views and learning more of the storied past of this beautiful and rugged region. We’ve spotted whales and porpoises from the decks and countless eagles and ocean birds! What a contrast to the high desert! Here are a few photos from our dip into the watery world of Alaska’s southeastern coast.
