February brought some snow, along with the lovely snow moon and a few delightful two-hour delays on school-day mornings. Winter hikes have been fun because of all of the lingering snow on the shadowed north-facing hills and under the trees. Around our house and in the neighboring fields, the roadrunner and eagles are appearing, as are the prairie dogs and coyote families.
Two weeks ago, The Old School Gallery’s art opening was more crowded than I’ve seen in over two years! Most people took a quick tour of the art, and then went outside to enjoy some company and soak in the Vitamin D on a sunny, Sunday afternoon. I’m including a photo of the view of the stage, shared by three local artists, and a picture of one of my recent paintings, Annie’s Garden, that I put in the show.
Over the long Presidents’ Day weekend, Zach and I drove to Los Lunas (a little over two hours east) to pick up a ten-week old blue heeler puppy. When we arrived, the puppy that we had spotted in the online photos, bounded out of the ‘club house’ where the litter was sleeping. We named him Tuna, after the prickly pear cactus fruit, and his parkour antics are hilarious! Samus (our four & a half year old Carolina Dog/ American Dingo) is adjusting well to having a new member of the pack!
Ah— just a few more weeks until the spring equinox, and green things will start to grow.
