Swinging through Summer

Here are a few photos from my July: These new, tiny flower paintings are in a show at the Old School Gallery which opened on the 18th. There was a pretty good turn out, but things are still a bit slow in re-opening up in El Morro. Many trees in the surrounding area have been hard hit by a beetle infestation, and several trees on the Star Garden Gallery property and on the sculpture trail that connects the land to the Old School Gallery are rapidly dying. The extreme drought has led to the trees being unable to sustain the challenge. It is shocking, and it saddens me. The next step will be to clear the trees. Now that we’ve gotten some rainfall, the fire ban has been lifted, and we can use a chainsaw to help with the work. The high desert really has ‘come alive’ and greened up with the recent rains! Wildflowers and container plants are equally grateful. I am grateful, too, for the rainbows and blooms and this break from the school day routine. School starts back up on August 12th, so it is about time to switch gears. Stay tuned for an updated website that I am working on and hope to have ‘up and running’ by the next blog post!
