studio updates

Snowy start to 2019!

There have been several waves of snowstorms in these first few weeks of January. We’ve had about eighteen inches of snow, but a lot of it is melting now— which means very muddy roads. The chilly days and snow-covered ground has pushed pause on the work on the little gallery building, but it has been great for studio days back at the house in Ramah!

Over New Year's, Zach and I took a trip to dip our toes in the Pacific Ocean, kicking off the new year! It was a fun and adventure-filled road trip that we'd be planning for about six months or so. We had made reservations to camp in Joshua Tree National Park-- long before the government shutdown-- and we were able to drive through the park, but someone had taken our campsite, so we drove on to Arizona (about four hours) and cut our trip short by a day, which was fine. It's shocking how long the shutdown has been going on, and I feel for the gov't employees-- waiting and wondering what will happen next.
I put some of my basketball hoop drawings in the First Quarter show at the Old School Gallery; the gallery has four or five shows a year, and it's been fun to put some work up and get to know people in the community. I'm also on the board at the Old School Gallery, and right now I'm helping to organize an art workshop for middle school students in Zuni over their March break.
